My name is Giovanni M. Dall’Olio and I am a PhD student at the Pompeu Fabra University.
I am working in the Evolutionary Biology group (Biologia Evolutiva) with Hafid Laayouni and Jaume Bertranpetit. The major goal of our research is to identify how natural selection acts on a pathway of genes, and whether there is correlation between the position of a gene in a pathway and how much it is conserved. I will dedicate some blog posts to explain this soon.
On the web, I have been a very active moderator in a Italian forum of bioinformatics and molecular biology, molecularlab.it. Over the years we suceeded in transforming molecularlab into a point of reference for many students and researchers. In english, I am an active member of BioStar, a questions&answers community for bioinformaticians.
